Water Supply
1. Brief Description:
At present the Bellary City is having a population of 3.5 Lakhs. Water is being supplied to the city from three sources. There are two main sources of water supply i.e.
(i) Allipur Impounding Reservoir pumping water from T.B. HLC which is located at 6 KM from city
(ii) Moka Impounding Reservoir pumping water from T.B. LLC which is located at 15 KM from city.
The bulk water supply is being maintained by KUWS and D Board and distribution to consumer point is being maintained by Bellary City Corporation. From these sources 12 MGD of water is being supplied during August to January and 9 MGD of water is being supplied during T.B. Canal closure period i.e. February to July.
The distribution of water to the city has been divided into three main zones.
(1) Cowl Bazaar Zone
(2) Mother Tank Zone
(3) Moka Zone

2. Existing Storage Capacity:
(1) Allipur Impounding Reservoir : 12,633 ML
(2) Moka Impounding Reservoir : 710 ML & 523 ML
3. Existing Borewells:
Total No. of Borewells fitted within Handpump - 542
Total No. of Borewells working presently - 453
Total No. of Borewells fitted with Powerpump - 36
Total No. of Borewells working presently - 17
4. Average daily yield from these sources in the past one week - 9 MGD
